NVIDIA DLSS 5 is in NBA 2K27. Does your GPU need replacing?
NBA 2K27 recommends an RTX 2070, but local DLSS 5 neural rendering needs RTX 50 hardware. A practical look at costs, compatibility and FPS claims.

The game runs. The new graphics option does not.
That is when the specifications get another reading. Is the PC falling behind, or does the new feature have a separate admission ticket?
NVIDIA's September 3 Game Ready announcement for NBA 2K27 makes that distinction concrete. Running the game and enabling DLSS 5's new visual feature have different requirements.
The recommended list says RTX 2070. The new option says RTX 50.
Steam recommends an RTX 2070 with 8GB of VRAM among its GPU choices. NVIDIA's local support for DLSS 5 3D-Guided Neural Rendering covers the RTX 50 series. Meeting a game's recommended specifications does not mean every new graphics feature will be available.
An existing PC therefore raises two questions: can it deliver an enjoyable game, and is the new lighting and material treatment worth an additional expense? Recommended specifications are not a promise of a particular frame rate at your chosen resolution.
Better-looking frames and additional frames do different jobs
In NVIDIA's technical explanation, the neural-rendering stage enriches lighting and materials on the foundation of the engine-rendered frame. It uses a one-frame-in, one-frame-out model. Multi Frame Generation produces additional frames. Features that work together need not do the same job.
NVIDIA's figure of up to 370 FPS on an RTX 5090 at 4K, Ultra settings and ray tracing combines multiple DLSS features, including Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation. It is a vendor result, not a measurement of the neural-rendering feature in isolation.
Image quality and responsiveness also deserve separate checks. A displayed frame rate that includes generated frames cannot, by itself, tell you the delay between pressing a button and seeing a response. NVIDIA distinguishes Frame Generation from its latency-reducing Reflex technology. For a useful comparison, hold resolution and other settings constant, then inspect the image, frame pacing and controls with neural rendering toggled.

The buying decision starts with the equipment you already own
The U.S. Steam base-game listing checked on September 5 is $69.99. That is not a converted Korean price or a verified tax-inclusive checkout total. It cannot stand in for the cost of replacing a GPU as well as buying the game.
For someone who already owns both an RTX 50 PC and the game, trying the setting comes first. An older-GPU owner faces a larger question: does this change in one game's presentation justify replacing hardware? Developers also have to consider the supported audience and the combinations they must test. That is an operational implication of the compatibility boundary, not a sales forecast.
Cloud gaming offers another route, with qualifications. NVIDIA specifies Ultimate members using RTX 5080-powered rigs in NVIDIA-operated regions. That announcement does not establish availability or prices for a Korean alliance-partner service. A fair cost comparison needs the relevant region's actual support, subscription price and connection conditions.
